Amkor Taps Camstar

Semiconductor enterprise to use collaborative manufacturing execution solution

Campbell, CA July 20, 2001 Amkor, which claims to be the world's largest independent supplier of outsourced packaging and test semiconductor services, will use a collaborative manufacturing execution solution from Camstar at its new factory in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone near Shanghai, China.

Amkor will use Camstar's InSite solution to facilitate communication between Amkor's factory production systems and its other enterprise systems, including applications from Oracle and Agile.

"We needed a powerful collaborative manufacturing solution that easily integrated into our present enterprise infrastructure," said Gary Breton, senior vice president of Amkor's North Asia Operations, in explaining the selection of the Camstar solution.

Camstar, which has been working with Amkor for 10 years, has about 30 customers for its collaborative manufacturing solution within the semiconductor industry.

InSite links enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and supply chain management applications, enabling live information automation and standardization. The platform also automates links between orders and the manufacturing process, allowing companies and their customers to access manufacturing information throughout the global manufacturing network.
