Siemens offers in-house deployment of healthcare e-business platform

Redwood City, CA January 17, 2002 Siemens Medical Solutions is set to offer its enterprise solution for the healthcare industry as an in-house application through an extended original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with BroadVision, whose software forms the core of Siemens Health Enterprise Dashboard.

The Dashboard, built on BroadVision's One-To-One Enterprise e-business application platform, provides the integration of critical information and single sign-on to applications, connecting a variety of users within the healthcare enterprise, including suppliers, physicians, patients and payers.

The Dashboard allows users within the healthcare enterprise place orders from suppliers and perform other tasks, such as viewing clinical results, reviewing patient information or accessing medical reference materials.

Previously Siemens had offered the Dashboard solution through an application service provider (ASP) model. The new agreement adds the option to install the software within a healthcare enterprise.

BroadVisions says that enterprise customers in the healthcare industry can personalize the Dashboard from their Web browsers to improve daily workflow, streamline communications across the enterprise, simplify processes, contain costs and improve patient care.
