Plano, Texas January 31, 2002 Dell has tapped A.T. Kearney's eBreviate for use in the personal computer giant's e-sourcing initiatives.
The contract calls for Dell, known for its lean supply chain, to access eBreviate's suite of e-sourcing products to help the computer company accelerate negotiations and sourcing savings, as well as to manage its sourcing workflow worldwide.
Recently, Dell employed eBreviate technology for direct and indirect purchases. The company plans to continue using the tools to source materials and will embed the eBreviate technology into its online procurement process.
"The velocity with which we conduct business throughout the value chain is critical as we look for ways to enhance internal processes," said David Brown, vice president of general procurement at Dell, in explaining the company's decision to move toward e-sourcing.
eBreviate is part of A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions, which includes the non-consulting businesses of A.T. Kearney related to procurement and strategic supply management.
