Automating Demand Planning

Midwest utility to gather feedback from stakeholders in planning process

Chicago April 3, 2002 Midwest utility company Ameren Corp. is implementing a demand planning application from John Galt Solutions in an effort to automate current manual planning processes.

Ameren, which serves 1.5 million electric customers and 300,000 natural gas customers in a 44,500-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois, will be implementing John Galt's ForecastX Engine as a way to gather feedback from stakeholders in the demand planning process.

The utility company needed a solution that would produce accurate forecasts for the replenishment of utility supplies. It is betting that ForecastX Engine will provide an overall enhanced visibility of all demand planning processes through exception reporting and tracking, demand reconciliation and the ability to link seasonal patterns and replacement products.

The hoped-for benefits from the more accurate forecasts include improved in-stock shelf levels and increased profitability through optimized inventory levels.
