Bellevue, WA - June 5, 2002 - FMC Technologies this week tapped a supplier relationship management (SRM) solution from Entomo in an effort to cut direct materials procurement costs and improve inventory management worldwide.
FMC, with 35 manufacturing facilities in 16 countries, provides technology solutions for the energy, food processing and air transportation industries.
The company initially will pilot Entomo's SmartHub/SRM tool to aggregate the data from its various plants' enterprise systems, including those from SAP, Microsoft, Frontstep and SSA Global Technologies. The pilot implementation will be at FMC Energy Systems' facility in Houston, Texas.
Subsequently, FMC, which is one of Entomo's largest customer wins to date, is looking to roll the solution out to its various locations throughout the world to take advantage of economies of scale by centralizing its purchasing activities.
"Streamlining purchasing and inventory management processes are key objectives for us, and we expect the Entomo system to make a significant impact toward those goals," said Seth Sonnier, subsea purchasing manager for the company's Houston operation.
