Legend Goes Live with i2

Top Chinese PC manufacturer turns to supply chain solution in bid to cut costs, build customer satisfaction

Legend Group, a top PC manufacturer in China, has deployed a supply chain management solution from i2 in a bid to cut costs and build customer satisfaction.

Legend, which designs, manufactures and distributes computers and provides Internet services and content, will use up to 10 modules of i2's Supply Chain Management (SCM) solution as part of the first stage of the company's business transformation project.

"We anticipate this implementation will enable our company to streamline costs and enhance customer satisfaction while allowing us to shorten production lead times and control inventories," said Qiao Song, senior vice president of Legend.

Computer hardware and services company Hewlett-Packard joined i2 in working on the implementation. This project is the first complete SCM suite implemented for any i2 customer in China and represents the first collaboration between Hewlett Packard and i2 in the region.

Legend will use the i2 solutions to communicate online with suppliers and forecast demand across the company's factories in 30 provinces. Legend also said it is seeing benefits from factory planning and scheduling on a daily basis using the solution.

"China's entrance into the World Trade Organization has resulted in enterprises such as Legend seeking new ways to streamline their business processes within the Internet economy in order to compete on a global level," said Philip Chua, general manager of HP Asia Pacific's Manufacturing Industries Business Unit. "Deployment of these solutions will potentially enable Legend to capitalize on opportunities in the global PC market by providing a synchronized supply chain that allows it to shorten its business cycle, reduce inventories and increase efficiencies."
