Kennett Square, PA September 16, 2002 Grocer Food Lion has expanded its existing agreement with energy management firm Enerwise to include the implementation of advanced energy management products and services at 20 additional Food Lion stores, with the goal of further extending the relationship to include new stores slated for construction during 2003 and 2004.
Enerwise's energy management solution for Food Lion includes Internet-based system monitoring, metering and reporting; equipment supply, installation and integration; and energy analysis.
The system collects, compares and displays energy data from multiple stores. Energy analysts then evaluate the data and provide detailed reports, identifying peak usage and recommending measures for reduced energy consumption. As a result, Food Lion has the information it needs to make more informed energy decisions.
"The Enerwise system is an invaluable tool that enables me to view energy information for individual stores at the click of a mouse," said Rick Heithold, Food Lion's corporate energy manager.
Enerwise has completed energy management systems at 12 Food Lion stores, with eight more implementations currently in progress. The new contract calls for 20 additional sites, with the goal of expanding the relationship to include both new Food Lion stores and existing locations undergoing renovations.
Food Lion, a subsidiary of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group, employs 86,000 people and operates more than 1,220 stores in 11 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
