King of Prussia, PA Healthcare group-purchasing organization Premier is implementing product information management software in a bid to gain better control over the burgeoning amount of product data plaguing the medical and health industries.
Premier negotiates contracts on behalf of its member hospitals. The organization is implementing FullTilt Solutions' I-Accel product information management software to serve as a central repository of product information.
In all, Premier expects to use the FullTilt software to manage 1.5 million stock-keeping units (SKUs).
FullTilt said that I-Accel allows manufacturers and distributors in a variety of industries address large-scale product information management issues.
The browser-based software provides a central repository for product information needed to enable online buyers to make more educated purchasing decisions and online sellers to present their products to better advantage. The application helps enterprises oversee the creation, management and syndication of complex product information for print, Web, database and data interchange systems.
"Managing product information has been a daunting task for the healthcare industry, given the lack of data standards required to identify millions of products as well as thousands of hospitals utilizing just as many different purchasing practices," noted Bob Moyer, president of FullTilt.
