Vigilance merges with Harmony, Vizional acquires Saltare

Sunnyvale, CA October 15, 2002 The mergers and acquisition train kept on rolling through supply chain solution provider country this week with announcements that Vigilance and Harmony Software had completed their marriage and that Vizional Technologies had acquired Saltare.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Vigilance offers supply chain event management (SCEM) applications, and San Mateo, Calif.-headquartered Harmony provided business performance measurement solutions.

The combined company, which will take the Vigilance name, will continue to offer the two providers' solutions separately.

However, Vigilance says that a combined solution, to be available first quarter 2003, will now offer the ability to synchronize real-time data from multiple source systems; industry-targeted, audit-ready KPI's and business alerts; and closed loop resolution paths.

The combined solution also will provide customizable executive views and historical tracking of past action-to-outcome for better decision-making, Vigilance said.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Meanwhile, supply chain visibility specialist Vizional Technologies has acquired Saltare, a provider of adaptive supply chain management solutions that was also based in San Mateo.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Vizional says the Saltare acquisition provides it with key technology to enable customers to synchronize multiple events and add business intelligence throughout a supply network. Saltare Leap, the company's suite of adaptive supply chain management applications, addresses real-time inventory management and capacity allocation.

"Saltare Leap complements the core VizionalNet network inventory management and distributed order fulfillment solution and will be tightly integrated with VizionalNet's collaborative synchronization router platform for easy implementation," said Joseph H. Dugan, Vizional Technologies chairman and CEO.

Dugan asserted that the combined capabilities are suited to help retailers, logistics service providers, suppliers and manufacturers increase the effectiveness of existing systems.

Cosimo Spera, Saltare's co-founder and former CEO, has become Vizional's new chief marketing officer and executive vice president for business development for worldwide operations.

Terms of this deal remained undisclosed.
