Montreal, Quebec, Canada October 25, 2002 Privately held Polyplan Technologies Inc., (Polyplan) has said that it signed an agreement with EDS PLM to embed, license and distribute the provider's Vis toolkit within its current PolyCAPP Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) software package. Polyplan said it also plans to use the PLM Vis toolkit within other future MPM offerings.
Polyplan said it develops, markets and supports PolyCAPP, which was designed for the automotive, transportation and electronics industries to accelerate new product introductions and address time-to-market, quality and cost-to-market requirements. The company added that MPM addresses time, information and quality gaps that exist within an enterprise's product lifecycle management (PLM) model and between product development and process development departments.
EDS' PLM Vis toolkit, supporting EDS' "Open by Design" strategy, has been embedded within the PolyCAPP package, providing a CAD-neutral digital mock-up environment so manufacturing engineers can collaborate with their product development counterparts.
According to Polyplan, PolyCAPP will also take advantage of the interoperability offered by the DirectModel (JT).
"EDS' PLM Vis technology complements the PolyCAPP MPM offering, bringing new depth to the types and sources of data information," said Andre Gosselin, vice president, research and development, Polyplan.
