TranSource Taps NTE

Third-party logistics provider automating its transportation tendering and execution processes

Downers Grove, IL January 29, 2003 Logistics services provider TranSource has tapped a solution from NTE to automate its transportation tendering and execution processes.

Greensboro-based TranSource, formed in 1995, said it provides "managed logistics" and total transportation solutions to companies looking to outsource their transportation procedures.

Upon deployment of NTE's Trade solution, TranSource's customer shipments will be entered into Trade, which will automatically manage the carrier selection and tendering process within TranSource's carrier network.

"By automating the tendering process, we hope to achieve significant improvements in internal efficiencies and allow our [customer service representatives] to focus on higher value customer support activities," said Matthew Benfield, TranSource's vice president of operations. "Additionally, we are giving our carriers better visibility to available shipments and providing them with more information and control."

TranSource joins NTE's other third-party logistics (3PL) customers, including Verizon Logistics, FedEx Logistics Services, Direct Logistics and Houg Special Services.

"Our solutions are designed to improve supply chain execution for shippers and therefore are well-suited for 3PLs to improve the service they provide to their customers," explained John Murphy, NTE's senior vice president of product strategy and marketing.

NTE also announced this week that it had expanded its sales team with the addition of Chris Cole, a 19-year logistics industry veteran who joined NTE to lead its business development efforts with asset and non-asset based logistics service providers. Cole most recently was with Logistics.com.
