Cambridge, MA February 4, 2003 Frictionless Commerce, an enterprise software company, this week announced the establishment of a London-based European headquarters. The opening is spurred by the firm's presence in the region with six European clients that include British Airways and CompAir UK Ltd., as well as a global investment bank and one of the world's five largest food retailers.
Amal Srivastava, director of strategic alliances, and Alex Kleiner, director of sales, will lead the Frictionless drive in Europe. In addition to expanding the Frictionless European client base, their focus is to fully support European business requirements.
"The opening of the Frictionless European office is in direct response to client and partner requests for a greater regional presence," said Stephen Sharp, president and CEO, Frictionless Commerce.
According to Beth Barling, senior research analyst at AMR Research, in a January 28 alert entitled U.S. Vendors Seize European E-Sourcing Opportunity, "Spend analysis and supplier consolidation processes are beginning to move toward center stage in Europe, displacing the early hype that surrounded e-auctions and online bidding events with more sophisticated applications and services for commodity management and sourcing optimization waiting in the wings."
"Frictionless has gained momentum in this critical market by directly addressing the enterprise sourcing needs of European companies. We look forward to continuing to support their efforts," stated Marc Osofsky, vice president of marketing and business development, Frictionless Commerce.
