Adaptive Planning Acquires myDIALS

Will enable delivery of SaaS data visualization to enable robust BI for business users

Mountain View, CA—Sept. 10, 2012—Adaptive Planning is redefining the way business users consume and analyze information with the acquisition of privately-held myDIALS, a provider of cloud-based data visualization solutions. With this acquisition, Adaptive Planning broadens the reach of its solutions beyond corporate performance management (CPM) to deliver cloud-based visualization and business intelligence (BI) capabilities to business users in organizations of all sizes. Now all employees can access, analyze, and explore key data from across the company, allowing them to quickly and easily visualize performance, gain new insights, and take action on the key drivers of business success.

“Data visualization is the fastest-growing segment in business intelligence today,” said John Herr, CEO at Adaptive Planning. “At the same time, cloud computing is the most important trend in enterprise software. By acquiring myDIALS, we are harnessing two incredibly powerful forces that strengthen our cloud CPM leadership and allow us to move rapidly into the broader BI market.”

Business intelligence solutions represent a large and fast growing market as companies and organizations look to leverage data and analytics to drive increased competitiveness. BI, analytics and performance management software is the second-fastest growing sector in the overall enterprise software, and analytics and BI was the top technology priority for CIOs in 2012 according to Gartner. The data visualization and discovery segment—which is characterized by highly-visual, rapidly-deployable solutions designed for business users—is growing particularly quickly, at three times the rate of the overall BI market.

To address this market, myDIALS’ cloud-based visual discovery and analytics solution allows decision makers to quickly and easily understand the true stories behind the potentially overwhelming amounts of data created in enterprise systems. Featuring an intuitive user interface, interactive drill-down, automated alerts, sophisticated analytics, real-time what-if scenarios, mobile access, and robust data capture and aggregation, myDIALS centralizes and presents key performance indicators and business metrics in real-time, as the metrics change, across disparate enterprise systems and functional areas throughout a company.

In Gartner’s report “Survey Analysis: Customers Rate Their BI Platform Vendors, 2012” myDIALS was one of the top-ranked vendors in terms of overall customer satisfaction, product experience, overall BI success, and business benefits achieved.

The acquisition of myDIALS comes on the heels of Adaptive Planning’s newly announced product, Adaptive Discovery, a visual discovery application within the Adaptive Planning suite of corporate performance management solutions that integrates myDIALS technology.

As part of the deal, myDIALS employees in the US and Australia will join Adaptive Planning. Adaptive Planning will continue to support existing myDIALS customers and partners, and will invest in combining the two companies’ technologies to deliver innovative cloud-based CPM, data visualization, and BI solutions going forward.
