Partners with Microsoft Axapta specialist MBS Dev on offering for small, midsize enterprises

Berywn, PA — August 24, 2005 — The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) business unit of IDS Scheer is partnering with independent software vendor (ISV) MBS Dev Inc. to deliver the Office Supply Vertical Extensions (OSVE) for Microsoft Axapta to the office supply distribution industry.

The two companies are looking to penetrate the office supply market with an industry-specific solution, ARIS SmartPath for Office Supply. The OSVE solution will provide office supply distributors with a solution using one business logic, one database, one set of tools and one source code, the two providers said.

Specific functionality in the solution includes executive workstation, order management, customer service workstation, buyer's workstation, warehouse management, forecasting, wholesaler interface, e-business, customer relationship management and financial management.

OSVE targets office products dealers, office equipment and furniture dealers, books and periodicals, computer equipment and peripherals, and janitorial/sanitation distributors, the two companies said.

IDS said that ARIS SmartPath for Office Supply takes a process-oriented approach to the implementation and execution of Microsoft Axapta, bundling Axapta with the OSVE solution and IDS consulting services.

"We believe IDS Scheer and ARIS SmartPath for Office Supply will provide dealers with a strong business process-oriented delivery team," said Laura Guillaume, CEO of MBS Dev, Inc. "The company's strong presence and commitment to the Axapta product enhances the MBS Dev offering."

"Office supply distribution companies have very specific requirements from diverse customers that demand more than just office products, such as janitorial supplies, office furniture, office equipment and computer equipment," said Dr. Mathias Kirchmer, CEO of IDS Scheer for the Americas and Japan. "By offering this ARIS SmartPath solution, backed by the IDS Scheer team of implementation experts, our goal is to create a truly collaborative environment between customers, suppliers and distributors."

Key features of the OSVE offering include contracts and matrix pricing, cross references, wholesaler interface, stock checks, freight tracking and catalogs. Other functionality of the OSVE solution facilitates catalog building, item updates, excluded items, customer budgets, credit card interfaces, usage reporting, summary billing and an e-commerce solution.
