Partners with German consultancy CENIT to introduce Collaboration Gateway to German, Austrian and Swiss markets

Waltham, MA — December 8, 2005 — Product lifecycle management (PLM) specialist Proficiency has teamed up with German IT consulting firm CENIT AG Systemhaus in a deal that will see CENIT introduce Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway feature-based CAD interoperability software to its German, Austrian and Swiss client base, offering related support and services for the solution.

The Collaboration Gateway is a Web-based, feature-level CAD interoperability software application that facilitates the sharing of product design information, including features, history, constraints, assembly structure, dimensions and metadata, throughout the extended product lifecycle process. The solution can help OEMs and suppliers in the automotive, aerospace/defense and heavy equipment industries to shorten design cycles, decrease time-to-market and lower design costs, according to Proficiency.

The Collaboration Gateway enables companies to exchange native parametric CAD models between Dassault Systems CATIA V4 and CATIA V5, PTC's Pro/ENGINEER and Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, and UGS' Unigraphics NX and I-deas NX Series.

"Bridging the gap between the five leading high-end design systems, our solution is built to provide significant business value to OEMs and their supply chain partners," said Roland Billeter, managing director in Europe of Proficiency GmbH. "With CENIT introducing support and service, companies will further benefit from this added value in product development."

"Being completely neutral in the diverse high-end 3D world, we can offer Proficiency's solution to our customers, thus meeting their requirements to work with the different platforms in use at their customers, partners and suppliers," said Kurt Bengel, CENIT's director of PLM solutions.

CENIT also signed a technology partnership agreement with Proficiency whereby the consultancy will develop technology designed to integrate Collaboration Gateway with SAP's mySAP PLM solution.

"This agreement is an important milestone in Proficiency's goal of integrating design intelligence extracted from CAD models to enterprise information systems," said Trenton H. Brown, Proficiency's president and CEO.

Proficiency said that this agreement extends its go-to-market strategy in the diverse European market. Proficiency said it would be working extensively with major design and product lifecycle management companies in order to meet increasing customer demand for bridging incompatible development environments.
