Set to use platform that enables healthcare affiliates to address IT initiatives including HIPAA
Austin, TX — February 2, 2004 — The Regence Group, which comprises Blue Cross/Blue Shield affiliates in Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho, has selected Troux Technologies' IT management platform to provide a technology baseline for key company initiatives and address the IT challenges presented by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
HIPPA, passed in 1996, establishes standards and requirement for the electronic transmission of certain health information.
With the Troux platform, The Regence Group said it would collect IT data from many different sources and create a centralized repository for the information that will be used to ensure compliance with HIPAA and its impact on the key initiatives of information security, application portfolio management and change planning.
"After the pilot project, we are convinced that the complete visibility into our IT baseline created by the Troux platform will reduce our overall total costs of IT planning and management," said David MacLeod, director of Information Security for The Regence Group. Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield affiliates of The Regence Group provide health coverage for approximately 3 million subscribers. Complying with HIPAA to protect the privacy of their subscribers is of paramount importance.
