Taps IFS financial, supply chain software to position company for further expansion

Chicago — April 6, 2004 — Harry's Fresh Foods is set to deploy financial and supply chain software from IFS as the company works to accommodate its rapid growth over the past 10 years.

Founded in 1978, Harry's, based in Portland, Ore., makes refrigerated, ready-to-eat foods, ranging from soups and chilies to sauces and desserts, for the retail and food-service industries.

The company's implementation of IFS software at its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Portland will include IFS' constraint-based scheduling and demand planning components.

"Our company has experienced a 30 percent growth rate over the past decade, and we needed an enterprise system that would support our rapid growth and position us for the future," said Brad Paris, director of supply chain and finance for Harry's. "We were impressed with IFS' strength in process manufacturing, specifically the food industry."

Paris joined Harry's Fresh Foods six months ago after serving as vice president of business development at Gardenburger, a manufacturer of meatless food products.

Michael Nordin, president of IFS North America, said that IFS' solutions are a good fit for companies such as Harry's because the component-based architecture of the provider's applications makes it easy and economical to add functionality as the companies grow.

"In addition, IFS software easily coexists with legacy systems and point solutions, meaning you don't have to throw out your existing IT investment," Nordin added.

IFS said it provides industry-specific solutions for enterprises in the pulp and paper, metal, paint and adhesive, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industry segments.
