Taps Total Resource Management to implement enterprise asset management system that supports four naval bases
Alexandria, VA — April 28, 2004 — Asset management consulting and technology solutions provider Total Resource Management (TRM) said this week that it has been awarded a $6.7 million, five-year contract by the Office of the Commander of the Navy's Northwest Region in Bangor, Wash.
The contract covers consulting, project management and technical services associated with the implementation of an integrated enterprise information technology system that manages over $2 billion in facilities and utilities assets for this region of the Navy.
TRM was charged with the implementation of Regional MAXIMO 5, a Web-based enterprise asset management (EAM) system that will have the capability of supporting employees, facility maintenance engineers, customers, suppliers and contractors at various Naval bases.
The Regional MAXIMO 5 system is to be expanded to support the management of transportation assets and cranes, and conduct purchasing operations and facility condition assessments. The EAM system, which already is integrated with Navy financial systems and outsourced maintenance providers, will be further integrated with mobile handheld devices, project management software and MEANS-based estimating software.
TRM said it has also been contracted to help the Navy generate savings for the region through the operation of a combined help desk that supports both the Regional MAXIMO 5 and the Regional Shore Installation Management System (RSIMS). RSIMS is a Web-based geographic information system that provides layers of facilities information on a single map and integrates with Regional MAXIMO 5.
"The EAM system is a key component in the Navy's overall information technology system as it allows the facilities management organizations at four different bases to operate as a single regional organization," explains Don Omura, TRM's executive vice president of Pacific operations. "This system will allow the Navy to view and access consolidated information about their facility assets across a region and benefit from the time and costs savings generated through the efficient use of assets, resources and overall economy of scale."
