Canadian Sunpan Imports selects TECSYS solution after legacy software fails to keep up with high annual growth

Montreal — June 9, 2004 — Canadian furniture importer Sunpan Imports is set to use a solution from TECSYS in a bid to gain an edge in inventory management, automated order management and tighter business processes, as well as to cope with the rapid growth in its business that was outstripping the capabilities of its legacy applications.

Sunpan sells over 400 home and accessory items to retail chains and independent and specialty retail outlets throughout Canada. Its current software application was not able to handle the company's 30-40 percent annual growth and properly process the growing number of orders. Add to that the company's expansion into the United States, and a new solution was needed.

After a complete market search, Sunpan selected TECSYS to partner with through the next levels of growth, electing to implement the provider's PointForce distribution software suite. PointForce will be deployed at Sunpan's new 40,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Scarborough, Ontario.

"We are experiencing high growth, and I wanted a solution that could be installed today and not have to worry about tomorrow," said Sundeep Bagga, owner of Sunpan Imports. "PointForce will tighten up our business procedures, with information visible and flowing from order to shipping."

Bagga said that his company looked at various other solution providers, including iCode and Business Vision, but discovered that PointForce offers certain standard features not available with other software vendors.

For example, a feature inherent within PointForce will automatically process orders from the tradeshow floor. As for many importers, tradeshows are an opportunity to take orders from the buyers attending the event. This standard capability in PointForce is typically an unsupported modification and an additional cost in many other solutions, according to TECSYS.

Started in 1994, Sunpan Imports is an importer of casual furniture from China, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia.
