Supermarket giant selects Procuri's solutions to better manage sourcing processes

Atlanta — July 7, 2004 — Food Lion, one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States and a subsidiary of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group, said today that it has selected Procuri's sourcing solutions to better manage its sourcing processes.

After using Procuri's solutions at a previous company, Don Coggins, strategic sourcing manager for Food Lion, chose to take advantage of the tremendous successes the solutions provided and duplicate them at Food Lion. The company plans to leverage Procuri's solutions across each qualifying spend category spanning the entire organization.

"We needed a new application that offered more functionality and broader bidding parameters than what we had in place," said Coggins. "Procuri offers a highly functional and elastic solution that directly aligns with Food Lion's business processes and strategies for development."

Food Lion prides itself on its low price leadership, quality assurance, and community involvement. The company has received numerous awards including the 2003 Energy Star Partner of the Year from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the 2003 Technology Excellence Award from Supermarket News, and the 2003 "Preferred Employer," given by Employer Support of Guard and Reserve, a voluntary branch of the U.S. Department of Defense to name a few. With Procuri's solutions, the company hopes to become an e-sourcing success story and set the precedence for other supermarket chains.

"We are elated that Food Lion has chosen Procuri to help them strategically manage their sourcing processes and procedures," said Mark F. Morel, Sr., Procuri's president and CEO.
