Sees success in U.S., Asia, U.K. as companies look to automate source-to-pay processes

San Francisco — July 23, 2004 — Commerce One this week announced a series of customer purchases of the provider's supplier relationship management (SRM) solutions, drawing in new business in industries ranging from from construction to the public sector.

The provider said its SRM solutions automate, integrate and optimize the source-to-pay process. The solutions include Commerce One Buy and Commerce One Source, and the suite as a whole is intended to lower total supply costs and increase purchasing agility by delivering visibility and control across the source-to-pay process.

Recent Commerce One SRM solution customers include Tier Technologies of Reston, Va., a provider of transaction processing and packaged software and systems integration solutions for public sector clients. Tier is using Commerce One Buy functionality to improve its Integrated Financial Management Systems Solution to help public sector organizations better manage their spending and buying processes to reduce their bottom line expenses.

Elsewhere, Samsung Electro-Mechanics of Korea, working with Commerce One reseller GTWeb Korea, is using the Source solution in a bid to reduce bottom line costs by improving Samsung's ability to collaborate with suppliers, particularly through reverse auctions of electronic parts. In addition, Samsung will interface Source with its existing legacy systems to allow for updates of financial data.

And, finally, London, U.K.-based Asite plc is utilizing Buy to provide construction companies with a low-cost hosted marketplace proposition to integrate supply chains and for securing goods from suppliers of construction services and materials. "By recently expanding its use of the Commerce One SRM solution, Asite will be able to increase its systems integration capabilities to its ever-increasing global community of buyers and suppliers," Commerce One said in a statement.

"Commerce One has proven its ability to help Asite provide the supply chain integration which our customers demand," said Tom Dengenis, group chief executive of Asite. "I am confident that the Commerce One SRM platform will continue to deliver to Asite the functionality we need to serve the worldwide market."

"As customers look to generate more value from buying and selling activities with their suppliers and partners, we believe that there are promising synergies between our SRM applications and the Commerce One Conductor technology," said Mark Pecoraro, senior vice president and general manager of Commerce One, referring to the provider's composite process management (CPM) platform designed to help companies develop, deploy and manage cross-functional or multi-organization business processes. "Together, these solutions can help companies add new SRM functionality to existing systems, integrate SRM with internal applications and create efficient gateways for suppliers to connect to manufacturers."
