Atlanta September 15 Alberto-Culver Co., an international manufacturer, distributor and marketer of leading personal care products, has selected collaborative solutions supplier Logility to enable its collaborative transportation planning and management across its U.S. supply chain network with its Voyager Solutions.

The Alberto-Culver Co. manufactures and markets such major brands as Alberto VO5, St. Ives, Molly McButter, Mrs. Dash and TRESemme. Its subsidiary, Sally Beauty Co., is the world's number one marketer of professional beauty care products.

Alberto-Culver said it would use Logility Voyager Transportation Planning and Management to optimize shipments of orders to customers. Logility said its solution reduces transportation costs and improves customer service by consolidating orders based on destination, required delivery date and carrier.

In addition, the provider said it can facilitate the processes of tendering loads to carriers, tracking shipments with real-time status information, auditing carrier invoices and improving tactical planning by providing reporting, modeling and simulation tools.

Alberto-Culver Co. said it also plans to implement Logility Voyager Navigate and Logility Voyager Fulfill to monitor, notify and control supply chain events on an exception basis, both internally and throughout the extended supply chain. The solutions will also send orders to the manufacturer's carriers on a real-time basis to accelerate shipment planning and meet customer service objectives with its retailers, which are primarily mass merchandisers, grocery stores, drug stores and ethnic beauty distributors.

"Meeting and exceeding our customer's expectations is our number one priority, and Logility Voyager Solutions will help Alberto-Culver boost service to even higher levels while optimizing transportation costs," said Steve Rawleigh, director of customer fulfillment for Alberto-Culver. "We anticipate a quick implementation less than 100 days."
