webMethods Teams with TCS

Set to offer consulting services, software to global organizations

Fairfax, VA November 22, 2002 webMethods Inc., a provider of integration software, and India's Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), announced an alliance to provide both onsite and offshore consulting services to joint global customers. The companies will build a jointly staffed offshore development center to support the alliance.

TCS is Asia's largest independent software and services organization, servicing clients in over 55 countries around the world and with annual revenues of $880 million. The alliance will build on their international presence and their working relationship with webMethods, providing complementary services from TCS to extend webMethods' Professional Services Organization. TCS will also be the preferred partner for offshore product development, helping to round out webMethods' library of integration adapters. In addition, the two companies will participate in joint sales and marketing activities.

Under the terms of the agreement, TCS will name webMethods as its preferred integration supplier, and webMethods will name TCS as its preferred offshore delivery and development supplier. In addition, TCS will form a webMethods Center of Excellence for internal training and development that will be jointly staffed with TCS and webMethods personnel. TCS will also contribute to the development of webMethods' GEAR implementation best-practices methodology, which is a roadmap for the development and deployment of integration projects in a blended onsite/offshore delivery model.

Phillip Merrick, chairman and CEO of webMethods Inc., said, "The partnership with TCS represents a continued expansion of our global presence. We're establishing a partnership with a global organization capable of providing the service levels our customers have come to expect. TCS' offshore consulting expertise, combined with their integration experience, provides our customers with a high-quality, lower-cost consulting alternative."
