Combine Click's supply chain apps with Vue's item-level visibility offering for "affordable" radio frequency solution
Chicago — January 10, 2006 — Supply chain solution provider Click Commerce has partnered with Vue Technology, a provider of item-level visibility solutions for large radio frequency identification (RFID) implementations, to offer an "end-to-end, RFID-enabled solution" that they said will help create value for all participants in the supply chain.
Called the Intelligent Supply Chain, the joint offering combines Click Commerce's RFID-enabled software, which provides sense and respond capabilities to manage complex supply chains in real time, with Vue Technology's TrueVUE RFID Platform, which provides the RFID networking technology and electronic product code (EPC) software needed to manage these supply chains both within the four walls of the enterprise and across all tiers of the supply chain.
Nancy Koenig, senior vice president of operations for Click Commerce, said that the combination of Vue Technology's item-level RFID technology and Click's planning, warehouse management and supply chain management solutions will provide companies an affordable alternative for their RFID investments.
"Research firms and industry experts have commented that the greatest barrier to widespread RFID adoption is cost," Koenig said. "The Intelligent Supply Chain will allow businesses to realize the value of RFID, beyond compliance requirements."
"RFID is revolutionizing today's supply chain, [and] with the Click/Vue partnership, companies can now reap the vast benefits of this technology — improved cycle counting, improved inventory accuracy and increased visibility into the supply chain — in a very cost-effective way," said Robert Locke, president and CEO of Vue Technology.
VUE's solutions allow standard RFID readers to network across thousands of antennas, increasing the number of zones a typical reader can support. The solutions can provide customers with visibility into inventory levels, location and authenticity while reducing the prohibitive cost barriers previously associated with item-level RFID roll-outs, according to Vue.
