International cable network implements compliance software to increase investor confidence
Cupertino, CA — March 8, 2004 — Crown Media Holdings Inc., owner and operator of the Hallmark Channel, which is currently distributed in more than 120 countries worldwide, has chosen Movaris' Certainty to help meet the rigorous requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Movaris said its software would help drive down the total cost of compliance for Crown Media by automating many internal control activities, which were previously being completed manually, without the hiring of additional employees.
Crown Media's Hallmark Channel reaches nearly 115 million subscribed viewers around the globe. The company decided on Movaris Certainty after examining numerous compliance software options, because of Certainty's familiar interface and e-mail notification of scheduled compliance tasks, which allows employees to enter the application by simply clicking on a link in their e-mail.
Certainty also follows up to ensure that all required tasks are completed correctly and on-time, and Crown Media said it is the only business process management-based (BPM) application designed specifically for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Mark Thompson, Crown Media Holdings' senior vice president of Finance and Information Technology, said his company desired to implement a comprehensive software application to manage its compliance initiative because the company was looking to go far beyond meeting the minimum requirements set forth by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
"Our compliance initiative will drive additional business benefits including corporate transparency and investor confidence," he said. "We looked at many vendors and spent a significant amount of time searching for compliance software that could help us address our entire obligation and drive down the cost of compliance. We chose Movaris Certainty because it allows for the continuous improvement of our internal controls, ensuring that we sustain compliance and the confidence of our investors year after year."
