Chain selects iTradeNetwork for collaborative distributed order management solutions

Livermore, CA — April 21, 2004 — Supermarket chain The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. has signed on to use collaborative distributed order management solutions from food industry specialist iTradeNetwork (ITN) for fresh product procurement.

Founded in 1859, Great Atlantic & Pacific, known as A&P, operates more than 645 stores in 10 states, the District of Columbia and Ontario.

The strategic partnership with ITN will provide A&P's U.S. operations with an automated fresh food ordering and fulfillment process encompassing suppliers, company distribution facilities and store networks, the solution provider said.

ITN said its solution will help to improve the efficiency of A&P's procurement process, enabling the supermarket chain to expand its base of fresh food suppliers and reduce costs.

"Our analysis supports a significant operating margin improvement opportunity over the next year for A&P using the ITN solution," said Robert Bonavito, CEO of iTradeNetwork.

iTradeNetwork is a privately held company that offers collaborative distributed order management solutions for the food industry, covering procurement, contract and management rebate, logistics, promotion, demand forecast, vendor management inventory (VMI), financial services and content. The provider claims 15 of the top 20 North American retailers as its customers.
