Sunnyvale, CA — September 20, 2004 — KnowNow Inc., a provider of event-driven integration solutions, today announced the release of KnowNow 3 Enterprise Edition, which the company said solves integration using established standards.

KnowNow 3 Enterprise Edition builds on the company's event-driven integration technology. Currently, customers in a number of industries are using KnowNow's services, including financial services, manufacturing, supply chain management, aerospace and defense.

"There are important financial and strategic benefits to implementing event-driven business processes, because they suit the inherently event-driven nature of many aspects of the real world. Event-driven business processes are not just traditional processes made to run faster; rather, they have specific characteristics that distinguish them from internally driven processes," wrote Roy Schulte, vice president, Gartner Inc., in the report "Event-Driven Architecture: The Next Big Thing," May, 2004. "Event-driven design will be 'the next big thing' in business architecture and in IT because it brings unprecedented power to support dynamic and multifaceted business processes."

There is a market for integration solutions, a market that Gartner defines as application integration and middleware. Gartner believes this market will grow from $4.6 billion in 2002 to $8.825 billion in 2006. KnowNow's solution also connects people to mobile devices. IDC has reported that the market for such mobile middleware solutions will grow from $700 million in 2002 to $1.5 billion in 2007.

A key component of KnowNow's product, LiveServer, routes messages, while a suite of KnowNow LiveConnectors enables connections for the delivery of data. Other components include: KnowNow LiveBrowser, which enables IT departments to add live data and notification delivery to browser-based applications without refresh, client-side installation or Java Applets; KnowNow LiveSheet, which allows users to share information between multiple spreadsheets on multiple systems; and KnowNow LivePDA, which connects mobile users to event-driven data.

"KnowNow 3 Enterprise Edition delivers information to the people who need it while the value of that information is still very high," explained Michael Terner, president and CEO of KnowNow. "We solve business problems, making organizations more nimble and providing competitive advantage."

Event-driven systems change the way information is gathered and shared between businesses and across the enterprise, according to KnowNow. Using publish-subscribe messaging over native HTTP, KnowNow's standards-based event-driven architecture extends the reach of enterprise integration solutions and allows for one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one or many-to-many publish-subscribe scenarios.
