Columbia Colstor, Centrepot deploying apps from Provia in bid to better serve customers
Grand Rapids, MI — November 8, 2004 — Regional third-party logistics (3PL) providers Columbia Colstor and Centrepot have separately signed agreements to license a suite of supply chain execution and visibility software from Provia as part of initiatives to better serve their customers.
Moses Lake, Wash.-based Columbia Colstor is one of the larger refrigerated/frozen 3PL organizations in North America, with over 43 million cubic feet of cold storage space. Colstor's customers include fast food industry suppliers Simplot, ConAgra and McCain.
Colstor selected Provia's FourSite 3PL supply chain execution and ViaView visibility, event management and performance analysis products for implementation at the company's six warehouse facilities located throughout the state of Washington.
"We looked at several vendors and selected Provia because of their experience and history with similar 3PL projects," said Kristin Roberts, a project manager for Colstor. "The robust billing/invoicing functionality in Provia's FourSite 3PL solution and the Internet visibility, event management and performance analysis functionality we'll have with Provia's ViaView product will give us the flexibility to service all of our customer's needs."
Elsewhere, Centrepot, of Memphis, Tenn., has selected Provia's FourSite and ViaView products for implementation at its two Memphis-based distribution centers. Centrepot specializes in providing logistics services to customers in a range of industries, including the automotive, chemical, electronics and textiles.
"Centrepot needed a robust, scalable 3PL solution to address the tremendous level of growth we've experienced," said Bill Fisher, executive vice president and principal at Centrepot. "New business has caused our business to literally double overnight, with increased requirements for advanced functionality in such areas as reverse logistics and visibility. Provia's advanced 3PL product functionality and long track record of successful implementations, combined with reputation and ability to get the job done were all key factors in our selection."
