PETCO selects Voxware, Intek to ramp up warehouse performance
Princeton, NJ, and Bellevue, WA September 23, 2003 PETCO Animal Supplies Inc. announced this week that it is ramping up productivity and accuracy with its new distribution center management solution, which integrates voice-based technology provider Voxware's VoiceLogistics with warehouse management system provider Intek's Warehouse Librarian Warehouse Management and Control System.
As part of the real-time integration at PETCO's Mira Loma, Calif., VoiceLogistics provides a hands-free/eyes-free means for workers to pick products for shipment, and Warehouse Librarian directs warehouse operations, giving management extensive decision-making power.
"Our management team is extremely pleased with the integration. We were already achieving a high level of performance, but the Intek/Voxware solution boosted our performance further," said Andrew Ross, IS project manager at PETCO.
Stan McLean, Intek's president and chief operations officer, said his company's Peer System Interface integrates Warehouse Librarian with VoiceLogistics in real-time, allowing Warehouse Librarian to communicate directly with workers on the floor using voice technology. "PETCO's selectors are now able to verify locations while picking large or non-standard size/shape items," he explained.
"Intek's ability to connect with other logistics systems allowed us to complete the integration work in record time," noted Bathsheba Malsheen, CEO of Voxware. "We are very pleased to partner with a company that has such a passion for customer service and providing advanced technology solutions for the warehouse."
