[From iSource Business, August 2001] You know you have to connect with the right e-logistics partners. Before you begin the process, consider these three recommendations by AMR Research.

1. Even in an economic downturn, companies must continue to invest in e-logistics technology and services. Logistics isn't about transportation anymore; it's about improving customer satifaction, which is especially important in a slowing economy.

2. Companies should not blame market confusion for lack of action. Logistics operations that were formed as little as five years ago are probably not equipped to meet the higher expectations of today's customers. You can move into e-logistics slowly, but you must start moving now.

3. If an e-logistics provider's value proposition is not immediately clear, move to another provider. Many e-logistics providers lack deep logistics understanding and experience, which will quickly become clear. Despite the fancy technology many offer, you only want to do business with providers that truly understand the nuances of logistics.
