76% of Small Businesses Fear Delta Variant Surges Will Hurt Economic Recovery

While inflation still remains as the No. 1 and fastest-growing concern among small businesses over the past few months, the fear of the government closing businesses again is now also a top concern.

Nearly 76% of all small businesses fear that Delta variant surges will hurt their recovery, stalling or even reversing the progress some have made over the past few months, following the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to Alignable.

While inflation still remains as the No. 1 and fastest-growing concern among small businesses over the past few months, the fear of the government closing businesses again is now also a top concern.

  • 47% of all SMBs say government re-closures due to Delta variant surges are their No. 1 concern right now, above inflation, labor shortages and other recovery hurdles. 
  • 83% of minority business owners worry that the Delta variant will slow their recovery and/or cause shutdowns (44% are highly concerned).
  • 87% of travel/lodging professionals, as well as 86% of event planners, 83% of photographers, 81% of entertainers/artists, 77% of retailers and 76% of gym owners/fitness trainers are concerned about looming Delta Variant repercussions.
