Asia Cuts the Wires

chinadotcom and Hewlett-Packard Team Up On mOffice

Hong Kong -- November 28 -- PRNewswire -- chinadotcom and Hewlett-Packard Singapore have entered into a "bundling agreement" for the wireless product mOffice.  Developed by Web Connection, a wholly-owned subsidiary of chinadotcom, mOffice will be linked with HP's A-class server.  This brings chinadotcom's wireless initiatives to a total of seven in its multi-pronged wireless strategy.

chinadotcom's mobile office application mOffice is aimed at customers purchasing HP's A-class servers that include a built-in WAP gateway.  mOffice carries features such as Memo, Phone and Email Address Book, Scheduler, To-Do List, World Clock, Email, Calculator and Calendar.  This tie-up agreement will enable the two leading companies to further tap into the fast-growing small and medium enterprises in Singapore.

The chinadotcom HP tie-up lays the foundation for further cooperation regionally, particularly in the People's Republic of China, where chinadotcom has demonstrated a competitive edge by its strong network of organizational, market, and government relationships, while HP also has its Mobile E-services Bazaar in Beijing.

In recent months, chinadotcom has announced its multi-pronged wireless strategy in partnership with leading mobile phone manufacturers, operators and distributors.

By linking chinadotcom's wireless applications with HP's hardware infrastructure, chinadotcom extends its strategy of providing comprehensive wireless services to mobile WAP users through the entire chain of mobile service providers, manufacturers, distributors and now, hardware infrastructure providers.
