SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (BUSINESS WIRE) Feb. 16, 2001 At their eMarkets 2001 conference last Friday, FreeMarkets Inc., provider of the B2B Global Marketplace and eSourcing solutions, announced an agreement signed with Nestle USA, a unit of the Swiss-based Nestle S.A., which is the world's largest food company.
FreeMarkets has resolved to provide Nestle USA with access to its Global Marketplace under the terms of a six-month pilot program. Nestle USA will then use this opportunity to source goods and services for its American operations as part of its overall e-business initiatives.
"We are very pleased that Nestle USA has selected our B2B Global Marketplace as a platform for sourcing goods and services," said Jason Reneau, director and general manager of the consumer sector at FreeMarkets. "Nestle USA is a leading and innovative food company and joins a growing number of consumer firms who are leveraging the power of FreeMarkets' eSourcing technologies and services. We look forward to working with Nestle USA to create eMarkets that enable them to reduce their costs and sourcing process time and make better business decisions."
Nestle USA, which makes everything from Toll House cookies to Friskies cat food, is the second component of Nestle S.A. to select FreeMarkets as its sourcing platform. Nestle Thailand has been using FreeMarkets' B2B Global Marketplace since November 2000 for its operations in Asia, Oceania and Africa.
