Pittsburgh, PA July 25, 2001 OpenWebs, a provider of e-business solutions utilizing peer-to-peer technology, announced today that it has signed key dealers in each replacement tire channel to implement its tradingNetwork software.
Retailer Mueller Tire and Brake, wholesaler Englewood Tire Distributors and commercial dealer Ziegler Tire have all committed to implement OpenWebs' point-of-sale (POS), accounting and Internet trading software.
"Accomplishing this company milestone marks a significant achievement for OpenWebs and speaks volumes for the potential of P2P based e-business solutions," said Brad Oberwager, CEO of OpenWebs.
TradingNetwork enables tire dealers, distributors, manufacturers and other suppliers to conduct business directly with each other while leveraging the speed and efficiency of e-commerce according to each participant's specific, private business rules.
Mueller, OpenWebs' first retail channel customer, implemented tradingNetwork in November 2000. Mueller has 15 retail stores.
"TradingNetwork is advancing our competitiveness by improving service levels, strengthening existing relationships and increasing our customer base, all while reducing transaction costs and inventory levels," said Scott Mueller, president of Mueller Tire.
Englewood Tire Distributors is a leading wholesale tire distributor serving New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Eastern Pennsylvania. "Improving customer service has always been a high priority for Englewood Tire Distributors," said John Boyle, president of Englewood Tire Distributors. "With OpenWebs tradingNetwork, we'll be able to bring our service levels to an even higher standard. TradingNetwork provides the technology that will electronically connect us to our suppliers and customers."
Ziegler Tire has done business with OpenWebs' founders for a number of years, utilizing retread shop management software that is now serviced by OpenWebs. Ziegler will be converting its POS and accounting software to tradingNetworks' Windows-based system. "With the growth of our business it makes sense for us to go to the latest software and we're excited about how user-friendly tradingNetworks is," said John Ziegler, vice president of Ziegler Tire.
