BCE Emergis names new health division president

Rockville, MD  August 22, 2001  e-Commerce services and exchanges company BCE Emergis has named Faye S. Baggiano, Ph.D., president of its North American eHealth Solutions Group, which focuses on bringing the benefits of e-commerce to the health insurance industry and to its trading partners.

Dr. Baggiano has 20 years of executive healthcare experience in the private and public sectors and joins Emergis from EDS, where she served as president of the Health Care Global Industry Group. "With an extensive background in the electronic delivery of health industry solutions, Faye brings a wealth of global e-health industry experience to lead our team," said Christian Trudeau, president and chief operating officer, BCE Emergis.

"BCE Emergis has a clear vision and strategy for electronically enabling the industry, as well as the electronic solutions to do so," Baggiano said. "I firmly believe that, with the challenges it now faces, the health industry is ready to adopt the technology that will ensure secure, paperless transactions while at the same time improve the delivery of health-related services."

In her six years at EDS, Baggiano was responsible for leveraging technology to expand into new health markets, such as providers (hospitals and physician practices), life sciences (especially pharmaceuticals) and long-term care, as well as growing the core business in the government and managed care sectors.

Baggiano has served as a presidential appointee as associate administrator of Medicare and Medicaid External Affairs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Care Financing Administration, and served as cabinet member under two governors of Alabama. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, and her doctorate from the University of Alabama.
