Supplier Enablement Service from CGE&Y

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young launches supplier connectivity solution

Bellevue, WA November 9, 2001 Consulting company Cap Gemini Ernst & Young pumped up its supplier enablement offering this week with the launch of a Microsoft-based solution for rapidly bringing suppliers online.

CGE&Y is initially targeting its Quick Connect for Suppliers solution, which is based on the Microsoft Solution for Supplier Enablement, at companies in the chemical industry, with solutions for manufacturing, technology, consumer products and other industries to follow.

The consultancy says that its solution helps suppliers overcome the challenges involved in selling online a process that CGE&Y calls "enabling digital channels" and linking to various e-procurement systems, e-marketplaces or custom applications that their buyers may be using. The new offering also integrates with companies' back-end systems.

Cap Gemini provides buyers and suppliers with the required B2B technology configuration as well as the professional services needed to integrate the solution within existing architectures.

"Now is a great time for digital commerce," said Don Bain, vice president for the life sciences and chemicals sector at CGE&Y, in announcing the new service. "The value propositions are known and within grasp, and the capabilities of the technologies and service providers are credible."

Bain went on to assert that the new solution would provide rapid and cost effective integration with trading partners and customers, allowing a company to focus on raising performance in response to connected customers' needs.
