Atlanta December 13, 2001 South African supply chain company DNA Supply Chains has set up shop in Atlanta, having secured the rights to market in this country the inventory optimization solutions developed by Ability Corp.
Ability, also a South African company, shut down its U.S. operations in October, citing unfavorable market conditions.
DNA offers supply chain solutions and consulting services targeted at the mid-market distribution industry. The company announced that it has acquired new and expanded office space for senior management, strategic personnel and consultants in Atlanta.
DNA says that the Inventory Optimization solution allows distributors to streamline supply chain management processes, increase business efficiency and ensure that their fulfillment decisions jibe with their overall business strategy. The solution helps companies increase customer service levels while also minimizing inventory investment, DNA says.
In announcing that acquisition of the Ability technology, Walter Leicher, vice president for DNA Supply Chains North America, said: "The addition of a proven solution like Inventory Optimization is a great compliment to our capability to provide outstanding supply chain services to the mid-range distributor market in the United States and Canada."
