Vitran Express Taps Logistics.com

LTL carrier to use solution for strategic linehaul load and network planning

Burlington, MA -- February 11, 2002 -- Less-than- truckload carrier Vitran
Express is set to tap a solution from Logistics.com for strategic linehaul
load and network planning, the software provider announced today.

Vitran Express is counting on Logistics.com's OptiYield SuperSpin to
optimize the Midwestern carrier's strategic and day-to-day business
decisions while improving profitability, service and overall efficiency.
Vitran Express has signed a three-year license and is currently implementing
the technology.

"With the pressures in today's increasingly competitive market, shippers are
demanding more value from their service providers, making it more critical
than ever to reduce operating costs while simultaneously improving service
levels," said Richard Gaetz, president of Vitran Express, in explaining his
company's adoption of the new technology.

Mike Sanford, vice president of linehaul and hub operations, added: "By
allowing us to generate 'what-if' scenarios and evaluate proposed changes on
costs, service and capacity in advance of implementation, OptiYield
SuperSpin will enable us to make informed decisions on an individual load
and network-wide basis. We have seen a number of analyses delivered in a
fraction of the time it has taken us to accomplish them manually."

The software includes such built-in features as interactive mapping,
detailed statistical information reporting, flexible data requirements and
accurate network modeling, and it is designed for use by less-than-truckload
motor carriers and airfreight providers.

Vitran Express provides extensive LTL (less-than-truckload) service in the
Midwest, operating from 57 service centers.
