Omnexus Adds Equipment Suppliers

Six new manufacturers bolster e-marketplace's selection of injection molding machines

Atlanta April 4, 2002 Plastic industry-sponsored e-marketplace Omnexus this week added six equipment suppliers to its lineup, adding to its selection of injection molding machines.

The e-marketplace, which launched in October 2001, added Toshiba Machine, JSW Plastics Machinery and Milacron Plastics Technologies to its supplier list, along with Sumitomo Plastics Machinery, Toyo Makura and Ube Machinery.

The new suppliers join Omnexus' initial lineup of three equipment suppliers, Engel, Demag Ergotech and Van Dorn Demag. Other suppliers participating in the e-marketplace include such industry majors as BASF, Bayer, Dow Chemical, DuPont and PolyOne.

Omnexus said its site features product listings and technical specifications on more than 1,700 models of processing equipment. This includes the latest all-electric product offerings, ranging in size from 20 tons to over 6,000 tons, with machinery specifications in both English and metric units.

Users can search for equipment across a range of manufacturers' product lines and by performance attribute.

"The Omnexus equipment eMarketplace provides a unique global vehicle from which to market our vast product line," said Tim Glassburn, vice president of Toshiba Machine. "Being a part of Omnexus greatly enhances our position in the marketplace and exposes us to a large community of both specifiers and purchasers."

"The addition of Toshiba, JSW, Milacron, Sumitomo, Toyo Makura, and Ube further solidifies Omnexus' position as the best online resource for sourcing injection molding equipment," said Michael Walsh, interim CEO of Omnexus. "We are well on track toward bringing the plastics industry the most comprehensive, streamlined channel for fulfilling its total material and equipment needs."

Omnexus' global headquarters are in Zurich, Switzerland. North American headquarters are in Atlanta, Ga.
