Atlanta June 4, 2002 Plastics industry-sponsored e-marketplace Omnexus this week launched expanded e-commerce functionality, allowing companies to buy and sell products and services through its new Commerce Center.
With the e-commerce boom long since busted, Omnexus is positioning the e-marketplace as a new marketing channel for companies to take advantage of e-business opportunities within the global plastics industry.
The Commerce Center allows companies targeting the plastics industry to draw from the traffic created by the e-marketplace's "anchor" suppliers, including founders BASF, Bayer, Dow, DuPont and Ticona.
"The Omnexus Commerce Center offers an effective way for manufacturers such as NOVA Chemicals to reach the growing number of designers and molders who are coming to the Internet, and specifically to Omnexus, to exchange their ideas and conduct their business," said Greg Wilkinson, a business director at NOVA Chemicals. "Omnexus provides many different e-tools to help us build awareness of our high-performance styrenics products. Our presence in the Commerce Center is providing real leads and valuable contacts."
The Commerce Center offers participating companies access to Omnexus members, as well as links to a variety of services, news and technical information created for the plastics industry.
Omnexus currently counts 17,000-plus members in its community base.
