Tempe, AZ July 16, 2002 InVision Technologies, a manufacturer of explosives-detection systems for airports, is using a collaborative product development solution from Agile Software to accelerate the company's development cycles.
Due to surging domestic and international demand for its baggage screening devices, InVision needed to closely collaborate with contract manufacturers and suppliers regarding product changes and updates. The manufacturer was looking to speed its product cycle times while maintaining visibility and control over its dynamic internal and third-party manufacturing process.
To meet these goals, InVision elected to use Agile's Product Collaboration solution for the manufacture of its explosives detection systems (EDS).
Since the Aviation and Transportation Security Act last year mandated screening of checked baggage, our explosives detection systems are in high demand, explained Don Mattson, senior vice president and chief operating officer at InVision. We needed a software solution that could be rapidly deployed to help us work effectively with our supply chain partners and contract manufacturers.
InVision was also looking for a rapid deployment timeframe in order to minimize delays and ensure standards. As it turned out, the company was able to deploy the solution in seven weeks, according to Agile.
