Rosemont, IL September 12, 2002 Print procurement specialist Printcafe Software this week rolled out the latest version of its print management system, adding new features to meet the needs of flexographic and narrow web printing.
Printcafe says its PSI Flexo print management system includes new flexo-specific estimating and job planning capabilities, as well as add-on module integration.
The new estimating module includes a streamlined user interface and a more sophisticated Flexo Quotation system. Now users can see pricing for individual cost centers, not just overall labor and material costs. It also includes enhancements to its die and cylinder library and its visual die search capability.
The solution provider says the latest version of PSI Flexo simplifies job planning and estimating by calculating the proper time and materials for all the variables comprising current flexographic production process.
"The flexographic printing process has seen more technological advances in the last few years than it has in the last 20," said Clay Horsley, product manager for Printcafe Flexo products. "These advances have added new variables and increased the complexity of the process. Because it's more complicated than offset printing, the print management system must accommodate the unique aspects of flexographic and narrow web printing in order to provide the printer with greater control, efficiency and profitability. PSI Flexo does just that."
Printcafe says that PSI Flexo provides the foundation to bridge the gap between production and management through integrated add-on modules, such as PrintFlow for dynamic scheduling and Auto-Count direct machine interface, providing visibility and control to help printers reduce waste and increase profitability.
PSI Flexo will also include integration to Printcafe's PrinterSite Internal online interface. Combined with the PSI Flexo Quotation system, internal staff can process and distribute quotes in less time, the provider says, and by sharing information with internal staff over the Internet, salespeople can spend more time selling and less time doing paperwork.
