Penrod Goes with V3

Warehouse management solution lets distributor give 3PL partners visibility into order, shipment advice info

Charlotte, NC November 7, 2002 Distributor Penrod Co. has implemented a warehouse management solution from V3 Systems, a provider of technology for managing operational execution within the warehousing, distribution, manufacturing and logistics industries.

Penrod is a diversified distribution company headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va., with satellite offices around the globe. The company imports and exports wood components used in the hardwood, plywood and furniture industries, and it imports hardware products for use in the North American construction industry.

The distributor is implementing V3's iSCM (intelligent Supply Chain Management) product in a standardized configuration, built with V3's logistics toolset, that is designed handle traditional distribution operations.

iSCM includes components to manage receiving, orders, RF-directed picking, packing and shipping. In addition, Penrod is also using the Web-based capabilities of the system to allow third-party logistics (3PL) partners to view order and shipment advice information remotely using a secure login.

The multi-facility, centralized-deployment model of the iSCM solution allowed Penrod to maintain its server infrastructure in Virginia while running an operational facility in High Point, N.C.

"The iSCM solution helps us meet our objectives of compressing time and increasing inventory velocity and visibility," said Jim Ackelson, Penrod's controller.
