New Chief for Newgistics

i2 veteran joins reverse logistics solutions provider

Austin, TX December 13, 2002 Reverse logistics specialist Newgistics this week named a new chief, bringing on a veteran of fellow Texas solution provider i2.

Ray Greer joined Newgistics as its new president and CEO, replacing C.J. "Gabe" Gabriel Jr., who left the company.

Greer, 39, was formerly the president of global network solutions and services at i2 Technologies, the supply chain management software company.

Newgistics, which works primarily with apparel retailers, offers a service, called SmartLabel, that allows consumer to return merchandise through the U.S. Postal System. Newgistics collects, sorts and aggregates returned products for shipment to its own retailer clients, providing advanced shipping information and other customer-oriented and analytical data to the retailers as well (see related story).

"No one has focused on reverse logistics in the supply chain," said Greer in a company statement. "Newgistics has a proven business solution for product returns that drives consumer convenience and confidence and streamlines retailers' internal processes."

Greer added that he views the reverse supply chain market as currently underserved.

Before joining i2, Greer served as chairman and CEO of Esurg Corporation, a medical supply procurement company. Prior to that he served as president, chief operating officer and CIO for Ryder Integrated Logistics for six years. He has also worked at Federal Express Corporation.

Newgistics' current customers include Eddie Bauer, J.Crew and Spiegel Catalog.
