Pittsburgh, PA Ñ March 3, 2003 Ñ Jam and juice giant Welch's has extended its agreement to use sourcing solutions and services from FreeMarkets for strategic sourcing.
Under the terms of the agreement, Welch's will continue to use FreeMarkets' QS solution and supporting services to conduct strategic negotiations for a range of goods and services.
QS is FreeMarkets' sourcing application, offering reusable templates for requests for quotes and information, tools for collaborating with and managing suppliers, and capabilities for creating and running a variety of competitive bidding and other negotiation activities.
Bill Coyne, director of purchasing at Welch's, said the company already has used QS to identify "substantial savings and process efficiencies" and make better business decisions by empowering its sourcing professionals to fully automate the process of structuring and executing sourcing projects.
"Welch's was an early adopter of technologies that enhance the efficiency of the sourcing process and has successfully used these technologies to create benefits across our organization," said Coyne.
"Welch's has had tremendous success generating savings and efficiencies through FreeMarkets QS, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with the solutions they need to achieve their strategic business goals," said Chris Connell, vice president of global account management at FreeMarkets.
