Georgia-Pacific Launching Sourcing Site

GPeSourcing platform using Procuri solution as paper giant streamlines sourcing operations across 400 sites

Atlanta — April 8, 2003 — Georgia-Pacific is setting up an online sourcing site in a bid to help the company streamline its worldwide sourcing operations spanning 400 locations across North America and Europe.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia-Pacific is one of the world's top manufacturers of paper products, with annual sales of more than $23 billion and 61,000 employees.

The company signed an agreement to use a strategic sourcing solution from Procuri to power GPeSourcing, the company's newly launched sourcing site. GPeSourcing will give Georgia-Pacific sourcing teams a central platform to conduct bid events, gather supplier information, collaborate and negotiate with potential vendors and evaluate sourcing results.

"GPeSourcing will enhance the effectiveness and productivity of our sourcing organization by automating and streamlining our supplier engagement processes," said Tom Single, vice president for strategic sourcing and procurement at Georgia-Pacific. "It will also help us standardize our sourcing process for goods and services across the company".

Georgia-Pacific will utilize Procuri's training services to assist in educating global users on the tool.

"Over the course of two years, Georgia-Pacific conducted pilot programs with a variety of sourcing vendors," noted Mark F. Morel, Sr., Procuri's president and CEO. "However, after learning of our sourcing approach and tactics, the company performed a detailed review of Procuri's functionality and chose our product and services to power the new GPeSourcing site."
