Atlanta — May 8, 2003 — Georgia manufacturer Marvair has implemented an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from MAPICS in an effort to streamline manufacturing operations and increase productivity.
Based in Cordele, Ga., Marvair, a division of Airxcel, manufactures air conditioners, heat pumps, environmental control units, unit ventilators and controls.
The company is using MAPICS' Microsoft-based SyteLine ERP solution to accelerate and improve its enterprisewide operations in areas ranging from planning and scheduling to workflow and customer service.
"The MAPICS SyteLine solution opens many doors to further enhancing and improving the way we do business," said Joe Parker, management information systems manager for Marvair. "If we don't strive to improve our business, someone else will improve theirs, and Marvair will be left behind. We feel that SyteLine is the solution that will help us enhance our ability to be world-class and outperform the competition in the HVAC global marketplace."
MAPICS said that some of the immediate benefits for Marvair in deploying the SyteLine solution include the ability to promise customers realistic delivery dates with a click of a button, enhanced co/by-product scalability to create single jobs for multiple parts, instead of multiple jobs for a single sheet of material, and expected time reductions through the use of exploited features and options as well as the workflow functionality to create product variations in a few hours instead of a few days.
The manufacturer is also using the solution to set up personalized screen layouts that help users be more efficient and productive. "We like our users to work smarter, not harder," Parker said. "In today's economy, companies must empower their employees to do this under intensified demands with fewer resources."
Parker said the SyteLine solution would provide a foundation for Marvair to achieve world-class status. "With this solution now in place, Marvair is automating manual activities, consolidating and streamlining manufacturing operations and giving our employees real-time access to crucial information that will not only provide a huge cost-savings benefit, but will improve the overall quality of our products and service to our customers," he concluded.
In addition to managing Marvair's manufacturing operations, the company intends to integrate its other disparate SQL-based systems into the MAPICS SyteLine solution.
Marvair evaluated other vendors' technology, but selected MAPICS for its interoperability, user-friendliness and ability to meet a spectrum of current and future business requirements, according to the solution provider.
