Marlborough, MA, and Mxnchen, Germany — May 12, 2003 — Proficiency, a collaboration solution provider, today announced the opening of its first European office, and the addition of Roland Billeter as managing director. Based in Munich, the company said Billeter would be responsible for providing the company's Collaboration Gateway software solution to European Customers.

Proficiency's Collaboration Gateway allows development teams within global manufacturers and their suppliers to collaborate on the design of complex products, eliminating the wasted time, cost and rework of re-mastering during the development effort. "The opening of our German office allows us to better serve the increasing interest and demand for our product in Europe," said Scott Berkey, president and CEO of Proficiency. "Mr. Billeter brings a tremendous amount of industry knowledge, regional experience, and a proven track record of sales, and truly enhances our management team."

Billeter joins Proficiency from MatrixOne, where he managed the Central European sales team. He was responsible for sales of collaborative development solutions directly into key automotive and aerospace accounts in three market sectors and through channel partners. Prior to MatrixOne, Billeter was a member of the directing board for IT & Telecommunications at Siemens Information & Communications in Switzerland, and a board member of Siemens Business Services AG. He holds multiple engineering degrees from the University of Zurich, and is fluent in five languages.

"Manufacturers in the European Community are leading technology adoption during the current global economic climate," said Billeter. "Proficiency's technology has drawn interest from automotive, aerospace and shipbuilding industries throughout Europe, and I look forward to matching the technology with the demand."
