Bestows Tecplan Achievement Award on U.K.-based Exel for cost reductions, continuous improvement efforts

Dallas — December 18, 2003 — International Rectifier, the supplier of power semiconductors and systems solutions, has bestowed its TecPlan Achievement Award on U.K.-based logistics specialist Exel, according to an announcement from the solution provider.

The award recognizes the implementation and success of Exel's global self-billing project in International Rectifier's key geographies: Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific. The project was designed to reduce expenses and ensure accuracy in a previously complex billing system, as well as to provide International Rectifier with a new tool to measure profitability.

"Exel deserves our appreciation," said Walt Lifsey, executive vice president of operations for International Rectifier. "The self-billing module is an excellent example of teamwork benefiting both parties."

Companies receiving the TecPlan Achievement Award must demonstrate the ability to reduce expenses and coordinate continuous improvement activities, meeting or exceeding customer quality requirements at competitive costs. Additionally, companies must improve accounting practices and the management of International Rectifier's logistics costs while adhering to the firm's TecPlan principles.

Exel has turnover of more than $7 billion and employs around 67,000 people in 1,600 locations in over 120 countries worldwide. Its customers include over two thirds of the world's largest public, non-financial companies.
