Unveils new composite application to meet demand for advanced service parts inventory optimization

Philadelphia — May 30, 2006 — Solution provider MCA Solutions is teaming with German software company SAP to deliver what it is calling the first composite application for service inventory optimization.

MCA said its Service Inventory Optimization for SAP Service and Asset Management is designed to integrate with and extend SAP's solution for service parts management. The new offering is targeted at addressing specific needs of complex capital equipment manufacturers in asset-intensive industries, MCA said in announcing the solution.

With this debut offering, MCA said that it is joining with SAP to help organizations meet the demand for advanced service parts inventory optimization that consistently delivers lower costs and provides for better, faster service, while driving bottom-line business performance.

"SAP sees the relationship with MCA as an excellent example in executing our Business Process Platform strategy," said Peter Goebbels, vice president of the Service and Asset Management business unit at SAP. "Delivering SAP's service parts management solution, with additional functionality from selected strategic partners, provides our customers with the most comprehensive solutions, and therefore the most business benefits."

The companies jointly showcased MCA's Service Inventory Optimization for SAP Service and Asset Management as part of SAP's solution for service parts management at SAPPHIRE Orlando earlier this month, with a repeat performance at SAPPHIRE Paris on June 1-2.

The push to develop the composite application largely came from global companies in diverse industries, including aerospace and defense, high-tech and industrial equipment, that already use both companies' products, according to MCA. Joint customers include KLA-Tencor and the U.S. Navy, which are using MCA's Service Inventory Optimization solution to meet their customer service requirements while also working to reduce inventory and overall supply chain costs.
